General patient visitation

For the safety of our patients, visitors, and staff, Humboldt Park Health implemented a visitor management system. All visitors visiting the hospital building are asked to provide a photo ID to receive a visitor pass when visiting for patients.

Visiting Policy and Restrictions for Humboldt Park Health:

  • Visiting Hours: 8 am – 8 pm 
  • Two visitors at a time, and visitors must be 12 years or older and accompanied by an adult.
  • Exceptions may be granted by the patient’s unit clinical leadership.
  • ICU – No children allowed unless under special circumstances

 

Emergency Department Visitation:

  • Open 24/7, each patient is allowed to have one visitor.

 

After Hours Visitation 

  • After 8:00pm any visitor entering must enter via the Emergency Room entrance and sign in with security in the Visitor log upon permission granted by by the patient’s unit clinical leadership.
  • ICU – No children allowed unless under special circumstances

 

E-Mail a Patient

E-mails will be delivered to patients Monday – Friday. Any e-mail that is sent over the weekend will be delivered on Monday.

We will make every effort to deliver all e-mails. If a patient is discharged prior to delivery, the e-mails will be destroyed.

Cellular Phone Use

Cellular phones may be used in all public and waiting areas – unless otherwise posted – provided its use is not disturbing others. Cellular phones may not be used in the intensive care unit.

 Security

Our security staff is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If assistance is needed, dial ext. 8277 from any hospital phone or 773-292-8277. Security staff patrols our parking lots and will provide patients and visitors with an escort upon request.

 Smoking

Humboldt Park Health is a smoke-free facility. This means that no smoking is permitted anywhere in the hospital, entries or adjacent areas. Please ask a Humboldt Park Health employee about the designated smoking area outside.

 Valuables

Patients are asked to please leave all jewelry, money – except for small change – and other valuables at home. If you do have valuables with you, you will be asked to seal them in a special envelope, which will be placed in the hospital’s safe. Humboldt Park Health is not responsible for valuables or personal articles kept in your room or on your person.

KNOW THE FACTS ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19)

Someone who has completed quarantine or has been released from isolation does not pose a risk of infection to other people.

You can help stop COVID-19 by knowing the signs and symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Seek medical advice if you

  • Develop symptoms

AND

Have been in close contact with a person to have COVID-19 or live in or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19. Call ahead before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room. Tell them about your recent travel and symptoms.

There are simple things you can do to help keep yourself and others healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Parking

Humboldt Park Health is easily accessed via West Division Street, North California Avenue or West Augusta Boulevard. Complimentary parking is available in any of our eight parking lots, located around the hospital on West Cortez Street, North Mozart Street and West Thomas Street. Please observe all posted reserved signs.

Dining Options

For Our Visitors Food & Nutrition Services provides a variety of services to meet the needs of our customers, fellow employees and patients. For your convenience we offer a variety of options for our guests and employees to have available onsite food service. Food may be purchased by cash or credit card in our cafeteria.  Café hoursThe Café is located on the second floor of the hospital. We offer a variety of hot food and grab and go selections. Hours of operations for main meal services are: Monday-Friday Hot Breakfast Served: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Hot Lunch Served: 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Deli Open for Service: 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday Hot Breakfast Served: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Closed from 9:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. Hot Lunch Served: 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Subway Subway is located on the first floor/main entrance Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Vending machines: Machines for food and beverages are located in our café and throughout the hospital patient waiting rooms and Emergency Room department area.

Chapel

Located on the first floor of the hospital, Humboldt Park Health Interfaith Chapel is open to both the public and our hospital staff. It is available at all times for individuals and groups of all different faiths and serves as a sanctuary for worship, study, prayer, meditation and reflection. Reading materials are also available in the chapel for anyone who is interested. If you find the chapel locked after hours, please ask a receptionist at the Information Desk to contact security and they will gladly open the chapel for you.
